Summer Plans

Our school year is coming to an end. We're finishing up a few things and getting our year-end testing done.

I'm looking forward to taking a little time off to clear my head.

I won't be getting much of a breather though. The summer is looking to be a busy one.

I'll be taking a little time to plan for the 2009-2010 school year. Which I'm looking forward to...but it's going to be work. I want to organize all of our school stuff.

We'll be taking care of my mother-in-law this summer. She's having major surgery on her leg Monday, June 29th. She broke her leg about 4 years ago. The doctor placed a rod in her thigh bone to help repair it. She has osteoporosis so her leg never fully healed. Both pins holding the rod in place have broken and the rod is now sliding into her knee causing quite a bit of pain. She had several setbacks after the last surgery. She stayed with my sister-in-law during that recovery. It took her about 8 months before she was able to go back to her own home. I have no idea what to expect this time. So far, the doctor has said he won't be able to tell us anything until he gets in there Monday. I'm trusting in the Lord to get us through this one.

We'll be clearing out my Lauren's room for my mother-in-law to stay in. That's going to take some time. I sure love that child of mine...but she sure can mess up a room. I think she needs me to draw her a map to guide her to the trash can and laundry room. Or better yet...she needs a full time, live-in maid. Oh wait...she has one of those. It's called Mom!

Birthday Thoughts the years have flown by. Fifteen of them to be exact. My first born baby is 15 years old today.

I feel happy and sad all at the same time.

I feel as though my time with her is running out. Only yesterday I was holding this beautiful 5lbs 12oz... 17in long...teeny little bundle of joy that I had waited all my life for.

The next time I blink, she'll be moving out...getting married...having her own babies. Its all going by soo fast.

I want to prolong every moment I have with her.

All I ever wanted to be when I grew up was a stay-at-home mom. I wanted to be there when my kids came home from school. I wanted to be there for them...always. I'm so thankful to God for allowing me to have that life. And we even took it a step further with His leading us to homeschooling. I've loved being able to spend so much time with them.

I look forward to the years we have ahead of us.

I've Gone Bananas...

for Bananagrams.

If you've never played this, you have to check it out. Its a great way to squeeze in a little educational play into our day without the girls complaining that its schoolwork. In fact, this morning Katelyn ask me to play.

How great is that?

We get to practice building our vocabulary and spelling...and its fun!
