Thrift Store Treasures

I have two favorite thrift stores that I like to visit...frequently. Always in search for that special a great price. I thought I'd share with you a couple of items that I've found on past treasure hunts.

This first item I found for my mom. Once we moved, my mom decided to give it to me. Wasn't that nice of her? I love it! Its an old-fashioned (replica) washstand. Isn't it cute?

I don't quite know what it is about this cat...but I LOVE it! I think I paid close to $3 for it.

I love, love, love this platter. I paid $5 for it. Isn't it great?

I'm not familiar with this company. I couldn't find much online about it. So, if any of you have heard of this company, please share what you know about it with me. Thanks!

Oh Joy...Christmas Photos

If you think getting the perfect shot would be easier when the kids are older. Ha...ha...ha...think again.

Its very amusing seeing these two laughing together like this since they are sworn enemies. Only the torment of their younger sister could elicit such a response.

And with this next photo, our session came to an end. Some how... Lauren got hurt, however it was denied that anyone did anything to her. Hmmm...Katelyn looks a little suspect to me.

And yet again...look at the enjoyment these two are getting out of this.

Christmas Tour

Welcome to my new home...

Here is the wreath on my front door. Yep...I made it all by myself.

Front porch. I could use more decorations but this is all I have for now. We've recently moved and still have lots of boxes to unpack. We're just gonna keep the Christmas decorations simple this year.

I've added a few extra snowflakes to my garland as well as a strand of pearlescent beads.

As well as a cute little birdie...

Lovely little votive that Katelyn made for me.

Here's another one that Lauren made.

Another look at our tree. Sorry about those cords in the back. They're from the garland and I just can't find a way to hide them right now. Next year, I'll have to get a fatter tree.

A few of the ornaments on my tree.

This is an ornament I made of my grandparents. They've both past away. I love to see them everyday sitting on my tree like a couple of angels.

Well...I guess this completes our tour. I hope you enjoyed your visit. I promise to have lots more to look at next year. Now...don't you want to join in on the fun? Kimba's having a party, as well as Boomama and Julia.

Have a Merry Christmas!

We made the choice to homeschool Elizabeth (our oldest) when she was due to go into kindergarten. I had this feeling that I knew this wasn't' what she needed...there had to be other options. One day while watching one of those morning news shows, my prayers where least I certainly felt as though God was showing me something. There was a family talking about homeschooling their children. I instantly searched online for every bit of information that I could find. I talked with hubby and he loved the idea. A big part of wanting this was that my husband and I both grew up in our local school system and neither of us was happy with it. That ...and I knew that I wanted my kids to know God more intimately than just Sunday School. I wish that it was something I had know about sooner so that I could've prepared myself a little more but we did kindergarten that year and guess what...we survived it...and.... had fun doing it. So we decided that we would take each year as it came and always left ourselves open to other options. Here we are, in our 10th year of homeschooling and the girls still love being at home, as do I....most days. (Come on...let's admit it...some days are just so hard! )

The Reason for the Season

A sweet little ornament made by one of my daughters at church one year.

~And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at His birth. Luke 1:14~

Christmas Tree

Here is my tree...

My brother's kids made ornaments for me this year . I love 'em!

It may not be the most glamorous tree...but its a tree that has been put together with love. I've let my girls decorate it however they want. Yep...some of the ornaments aren't spaced out right...but they love it. After all...that's what's important to kids happiness. If a haphazardly-done tree makes 'em happy...then it makes me happy too.

Christmas Garland

The Nester had a garland show-and-tell this week so I decided to take some photos of my garland. After all, it was she who inspired me to do the garland in the first place. I'm very happy with how my simple, but beautiful garland turned out.

And now for a closeup of the center.

New Blogs

I'm having so much fun creating my new blogs. I've had a blog at homeschool blogger but it wasn't nearly as easy to use as Blogger. I am looking forward to all the things that I can do here.
